Sometime last week, I noticed that sometimes, mostly during games, my mouse will lag/stutter. Through some testing, I’ve figured that it’s not an issue with my mouse itself/mousepad (I’ve tried a different mouse)
It seems to be most prevalent when under heavy cpu usage. I don’t believe I installed anything new in the last week that would’ve caused this. I don’t remember if windows updated or not. I will note that when looking at my installed programs, I have Valorant installed (a game that has been rendered completely unplayable because of how bad the stuttering is in that game specifically), and it says it’s taking up 2.76 TB of space, which isn’t true because I don’t even have that much space on my computer. As of making this post I reinstalled it.
Another issue that I have no idea if it is related or not, is that my screen, on both monitors, randomly decided to invert colors. I need to enable the invert colors option in the windows magnifier tool, and always have that tool open in the background. When my computer is locked/during startup, it’s not inverted, but only when logging in/after logging in does it invert. I think this started before the mouse stuttering problem, but I am unsure.
My computer is running windows 10 pro, with an intel core i5-6500 CPU @ 3.2GHz. I haven’t overclocked it or anything like that. I built this computer about 5 years ago. Part of me thinks I might just need to get an updated CPU, but I’m unsure if that’s necessary yet just because the change was so sudden.
What can I do to further diagnose the issue/solve it?
