Y splitter not picking up mic

Good evening guys! For some reason my y splitter only pics up game sound, but will not pic up my mic on my Xbox gaming headset.. Iām a little confused as to why this is. I have everything hooked up properly. I currently have to have my Xbox controller wired VIA usb to my computer, but sometimes it just blinks instead of connecting so that In itself is another issue. The only way that I have found to make it connect when blinking is to completely restart my pc. Anyone have any advice?
