Hey y'all,
I have an 06 macbook pro. Recently it's started producing a lot of artifacts when playing minecraft and pretty much fries itself when I'm gunning it. I previously though this was a heat issue. Today, I decided to run memtest-86 to see what was going on. I got millions of errors as a result. However, when reran the test with different combos of my ram in there (only one stick at a time, the sticks in different configurations, etc), I noticed that the same address threw the first error every time. To me, this indicates that it's either a CPU or Mobo issue. Is this true? If so, am I SOL?
Thanks! -sagard
Edit 1: So I've been running the small FFT prime95 stress test for 12 hours with my cpu burning at 102 C. Not a single error yet. So it appears the CPU is okay. I'm going to try large next.
Edit 2: I'm running large FFTs right now, and i'm starting to get some graphic artifacts, even just running chome. Example: http://k.minus.com/jbgzplyKYn5Dz1.png . This shows up on any page I load in chrome. Also, there's some weird bendy stuff going on with the page, but it's impossible to screencap. Does this provide any hints?
