What will happen when I connect a laptop I’ve been using to play games on to a tower I’m currently building?

Post Body

So I've gotten into gaming but didn't go for the full set up right away rather have been getting better and better laptops throughout the many months. Now though I want to be able to be able to play any game I own with little to no lag and still have good graphics. I started doing research and am building a PC tower. The thing I'm wondering is, because I've never done this, is what will happen when I connect the two? The tower is going to have a CPU, more RAM, added storage, and a new graphics card.
