My router won't connect to the internet when directly plugged into my modem, but will when I connect my modem to my Macbook and share internet to the router.

Post Body

I've been on a support chat for 3 hours trying to solve the issue, and we're both stumped. I've currently got my wifi working, but only by tethering it through the macbook using 2 different USB to ethernet adapters. I'd like to be able to use my laptop normally and also just can't understand how that is. To further complicate the issue, the ethernet doesn't work with any of my other devices (Nintendo Switch, Playstation) even though it did just a few hours ago. If it helps, I needed to renew my DCHP lease when I plugged my laptop into the ethernet.
