Interesting headphone problem!

Post Body
Iβm not sure if this is unique or not, I feel as though it may be.
Every single pair of in ear headphones that I have ever owned has ended up with the left earphone dying within a year. It must have happened with at least 10 pairs and itβs getting rather annoying.
Reason for post is that I was sitting down to watch a movie just now, to the disappointment of only the right earphone working :(
Any suggestions on what may be happening other than having acidic ear wax?
