Sent my hp laptop in because it had a boot device not found error. Has my data been lost or will they wipe it when repairing it? I have backups but Iām just curious

I was getting a boot device not found error so I sent it in. I have back ups but will they have to wipe it? The error happened when I was reseting my computer but something went wrong during the process.
