Sometimes the drive doesn't show, sometimes it won't load certain folders, applications don't run right from drive. This happened after I replugged in my wireless/wired keyboard and I'm not sure if the LEDs flashed or if there was a short that occurred. CHKDSK gets caught in a loop at startup freezing at 45% repair and when done in a terminal it gets through about 3 entries in section 3 and then freezes up.
Not sure what happened and I do not wish to lose this data, after hours researching albeit not knowing the cause it seems that something has gone awry with the NTFS config? So I'm in the process of backing up a 1.5TB (700GB used) drive to an external 1TB drive (800GB free) and then I'm going to attempt cloning the bad 3TB (700GB used) to the soon to be newly formatted 1.5TB drive with EaseUS Disk Copy. Any advice? Software recommendations? I have the benefit of none of these drives affected being my OS drive. My boot drive is a 250GB m.2 ssd no issues as far as I can tell. My CPU, RAM, voltage, fans are reading fine so if it was a short, for whatever reason, only my HDD was affected.
Any advice, tips, help GREATLY appreciated.
Update: Drive is totally dead now it seems, doesn't detect in windows at all, I would like to salvage files from it still if possible but it seems running chkdsk has burnt it out entirely. Thankfully amazon same day shipping has me rebuilding rather quickly opted for a 2TB barracuda this time instead as I never used more than 1.5TB anyway.
Would still like help on this though if possible, thanks.
