Desktop Mic issue

Post Body

I can't get any mic working on my Windows 10 desktop.

First off I've tested both the mics from my regular headphones and my apple earpods on my iphone, both mics are functioning.

However, plugging them into the mic port on my desktop. My normal headphones have nothing. My earpods pick up audio FROM the earpods themselves and not the mic. If I boost all the volumes and literally put the earpod right up to my mouth, I can hear it picking up. So something in the desktop is trying to read from the wrong place.

I've updated, redownloaded, rolled back, every audio driver I can imagine, they all play out the same.

This happens for both the front and back mic port on the Desktop.

At this point I think it's a motherboard problem? Is there anything obvious I can look for?
