So when I try to open the Steam app I'll get a message saying its verifying installation and downloading any updates then "Connecting Steam Account: _____" all as normal. But then nothing happens. No page opens up displaying my games or friends list but I do get the occasional notification of my frienss being in game loke the regular pop up in the bottom right corner. I see in Task Manager that the bootstrapper is running as well as other regular Steam programs but its not actually opening. I've restarted my computer, reinstalled steam (with game files backed up elsewhere), and checked for any recent updates for Windows and nothing seems to have worked. Haven't had a problem like this until this week and I've googled this problem and no e of the results provided any helpful solutions that worked for me. I have no problems opening up other apps (i.e. Discord, Battlenet, etc).
In addition I keep seeing apps consuming massive Disk space including 'Service Host: Local system' and 'Antimalware Service Executable' taking up 90-99% individually. Any way to fix this issue?
Honestly right now my main focus is trying to get Steam working. The disk usage is something that only happens intermittently and is only a problem from time to time when playing online.
Laptop specs: Dell Inspiron, Win10, GTX 906m, i7-6700HQ 2.6GHz.
Thank you in advance for any help you maye be able to give!
