Hello! I recently (yesterday) built a new PC strictly for streaming. I'll type out all of the specs down below. I'm running into a REALLY annoying issue where if I have to restart my streaming PC, because I'm installing programs etc, then I lose the signal to my gaming PC monitor. Now, obviously that makes sense because I'm running the HDMI switch from my gaming PC GPU to an HDMI switch (with consoles connected) and then to an HDMI audio extractor, and into the streaming PC (Elgato HD60 Pro). Only issue is that the way it's setup, I SHOULD be able to just turn the streaming PC back on, and get the display signal back, but unfortunately I don't. I've tried countless times to bring it back up, and the only time I have success in doing this is if I unplug the GPU from the HDMI switch, plug that directly into the input on the elgato and pray that it displays on my monitor (which is the elgato output). I have to power cycle both machines like 15 or 20 times for it to finally display correctly. Then from there I can unplug the GPU from the Elgato, plug it back into the HDMI switch and then plug the HDMI Switch (going to the HDMI audio extractor) back into the input on the Elgato. I'm really not sure what's going on here, or if I'm missing something while resetting my PC(s) and just happen to be finding it on accident after 20 tries. If there is anyone that can help me out, understand the signals etc, then THANK YOU in advanced!
Streaming PC Setup
- Gigabyte Z97-D3h
- i7 4790k
- 32gb G Skill Ripjaw DDR3
- 1050 Ti
- Elgato HD60 Pro
Gaming PC Setup
- Asus Z170
- 980 Ti
- 16gb Corsair DDR4
That's really all there is to know about the PC setups. The components I have running all of the HDMI stuff etc, broken down:
- Gaming PC: GPU > HDMI Switch #1 > HDMI Switch Output > HDMI Audio Extractor > HDMI Audio Extractor Output > Elgato Input > Elgato Output > Main Monitor (to display the gaming PC and also capture from the same monitor)
That's pretty much it, I'm not sure what other info would be needed, but I'll be more than happy to provide if need be. PLS HALP
