Hello people, I 'd very much appreciate your help with a frustrating Internet access issue I got.

I have an ADSL connection through a TP-Link router, wired to a desktop computer. Up until 2 days ago or so wi-fi was working normally, on multiple devices.

After some ISP work in the area, which disabled all connections for a couple of hours and while the desktop retained its connectivity, I could not connect with any other (3 tested) device via wi-fi to the Internet.

The error I got from my laptop was "DNS server not responding". After some frantic goggle-tech, which led me to try several things, I noticed that all the others had their Internet connection lost altogether or in just one device, while I still got my cord working, just not the wi-fi, and on multiple devices/OSs as well.

Tried:

  • Router on and off again

  • Wi-Fi switch on and off again

  • Router reset

  • Router Factory Settings

  • DNS flush

  • Manual DNS from ISP, Open Source and Google

Nothing worked, but I think this is not a similar issue as these people had.

Finally, the laptop connects with the desktop, just not with the Internet.

This is way beyond my home user league, please halp :(

EDIT: Contacted ISP, everything's fine on their part.

EDIT2: Changed router, everything is back to sanity. I guess I'll never learn why only my wireless connections couldn't do whatever they do with this DNS stuff, I'll take my win.
