Okay. A couple days ago i came home and turned on my monitor and it was running at 1024x768. So i go to my resolution settings to put it to 1080p and there is no 1080p option.
So, i go to Nvidia Control panel and create a custom resolution, I notice it says Digital Display (instead of Phillips 224e5qdab which it did before) and it says im connected with DVI, which i can asure you, I'm not. I ignore this and create a 1920x1080 custom res, but it looks stretched and horrible, so i set it to: CVT Reduced Blank and it works.
Okay, thats great. now i have my 1080p back. But when i go to try and play some music through my monitors speakers which i do quite often and there is no music. I go to my windows sound options and Nvidia HDMI Output is disconnected. Erm, okay. I restart my PC, and still the same issue. So i do a bit of searching and came to the conclusion to reinstall my drivers.
So i go and download DDU, I uninstall my drivers, reboot, install the new ones, you know the procedure. I reboot and its still at 1024x768. Wut? I go back to res settings, no 1080p. So again, i create a new custom resolution. I set it to CVT Reduced Blank to avoid the horrible stretching. It still shows exactly the same as before.
So, I get myself a dvi cable, and it works fine. all the resolution options are there without needing to make a custom resolution or anything. It works fine! But I use my monitor speakers all the time and now I cant do this. I buy a HDMI -> DVI adapter just to test if it does the same. So i plug the hdmi cable into the back of my GPU and the dvi side into my monitor and it works just the same as if its running off just DVI (but no audio of course) Weird, So at this point i concluded its the monitors fault.
But before i come to this conclusion i plug the HDMI to HDMI cable into my iGPU expecting to get 1024x768 too. Nope. Works fine at 1920x1080 WITH sound. Erm... okay. So now i think its my GPU (Zotac GTX 780 Ti AMP) So, at this moment im confused as hell.
So i get in contact with Zotac to see what might be wrong or if i can get an rma. They tell me to call phillips, So i call phillips and they say its a gpu problem.
So im stuck right between the 2 companies telling my that its the other ones problem. I try a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, but this time it does the opposite of the DVI to HDMI adaptor. It runs at 1024x768.
Could you guys help me to see if there is something that i can do?
