Suddenly Adobe flash player "plugin failed to load." Chrome on Mac.
Post Body

As per title.

Older macbook, early 2007 model. Running OS 10.6.7 (yes .7 not .8, due to standing core audio bug in .8; this computer doubles as my main performance rig.)

Chrome is the current version (41.0.2272.118)

Flash is the current version as well (17.0.0.134)

As of yesterday all worked normally with streaming videos. Which is to say very sluggish on this aged computer.

Tonight Adobe flash has inexplicably failed. Depending on the site I'll get either a perpetual loading buffer at 0%, or "plugin failed to load" on others.

NO software has been installed, attachments downloaded, etc. AFAIK no change to this computer from yesterday. And no, I do not run with root permissions.

It seems to be just flash, as the HTML5 player thing that Youtube uses runs just fine. My favorite streaming tv services do not load. I even checked to see if the nsfw tubes load, being flash based, they do not load. (Does this constitute an emergency? >;D )

I have restarted chrome. No. Checked for updates. No. In chrome://plugins made sure the "pepperflash" (who came up with that name?) had permission to run. Still not working. Downloaded the flash-plugin from Adobe's website, quit Chrome, installed, started Chrome, went to plugins again, disabled pepperflash and enabled the flash plugin. Still not working.

So reddit, what's the next step?
