This is driving me insane. If I use chrome remote desktop, my computers automatically switch off compositing. Once this happens, the only way I can re-enable it is with a reboot.
I don't care about transparency, but when compositing is off, I get a lot of tearing when I play videos, which is not optimal on my htpc.
I've Googled quite a bit, but none of the solutions I've found actually work for me.
I've tried stopping and restarting uxsms, killing dwm, and even the Aero troubleshooter tool. None of those allow me to re-enable Aero without a reboot.
The helper service is running, dwm.exe is running, but if I select an aero theme it doesn't actually switch back.
This is happening on both of my Windows 7 Pro x64 machines, one laptop one desktop.
Any thoughts? I'm losing my mind! Thanks!
