Where do I begin? Alright, to start things off:
DX4850-27eu
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
i5-2300 at 2.8GHz
6GB RAM
300W PSU
I've been using this computer for awhile now, and just recently, I decided to purchase a dedicated GPU for it, as the Intel HD is quite slow when it comes to games and such. I went with the 7750 because it has a low power usage, and it doesn't require axillary power; it draws it directly from the PCIe slot.
It came in the mail yesterday. I plugged her in to the PCIe slot (my computer only has one), put everything back together, and turned on the computer. Next, I had to install the correct drivers for it to work. I uninstalled the drivers for Intel HD, went to the AMD website, picked the GPU I have, and downloaded Catalyst. So far, so good.
So this is where I started having my first issues. I 'installed' Catalyst, picked custom install, and went through the necessary downloads. At the end, it said installation complete, but warnings occurred during installation. This is the warning that occurred:
<?xml version="1.0"?> <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="Report.xml.xsl"?> <monetreport xmlns:dt="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:datatypes"> <general> <cmdline>-UI </cmdline> <time>09/06/14 13:02:20</time> <action>install</action> <download></download> </general> <dcm> </dcm> <exist> <package> <description>AMD Catalyst Install Manager</description> <result></result> <version>3.0.868.0</version> <size>20 </size> </package> <package> <description>AMD APP SDK Runtime</description> <result></result> <version>10.0.898.1</version> <size>90 </size> </package> </exist> <install> <package> <description>AMD Catalyst Install Manager</description> <result>Succeed</result> <version>3.0.868.0</version> <size>20 </size> </package> </install> <uninstall> </uninstall> <downloaded> </downloaded> <resource> <hwinfo>Hardware information</hwinfo> <existpkg>Existing packages</existpkg> <pkg2inst>Packages for install</pkg2inst> <pkg2uninst>Packages for uninstall</pkg2uninst> <otherdev>Other detected devices</otherdev> <errmsg>Error messages</errmsg> <name>Name</name> <manufacture>Manufacturer</manufacture> <chiptype>Chip type</chiptype> <chipid>Device ID</chipid> <otherhw>Other hardware</otherhw> <download>Download packages</download> <succeed>Success</succeed> <fail>Fail</fail> <vendorid>Vendor ID</vendorid> <classcode>Class Code</classcode> <revisionid>Revision ID</revisionid> <ssid>Subsystem ID</ssid> <ssvid>Subsystem vendor ID</ssvid> <header1>Catalystâ„¢ Install Manager</header1> <header2>Installation Report</header2> <finalstatus>Final Status:</finalstatus> <versionofitem>Version of Item:</versionofitem> <size>Size:</size> <bytes>Mbytes</bytes> </resource> </monetreport>
I then try to run Catalyst, as it should be on my computer, but I can't even find it. So, I go to the AMD website, and attempt to look for help. I realized that my HDMI cable is still plugged in to the mobo(?), so I unplugged it, and plugged it into the HDMI port on the GPU. Nothing appears on the screen.
I also downloaded GPU-Z, to see if my computer even detects the card. All I see is 'Video Controller (VGA Compatible)'. I went into Device Manager, and it says the same thing under 'Display Adapters'.
Other things I have tried, to no prevail:
Re-seat the graphics card itself.
Launch into safe mode, uninstall all GPU drivers with 'Display Driver Uninstaller', then reinstall Catalyst.
Open up the BIOS, and try to find something about it in there. Maybe I'm missing something?
This is my first time installing a graphics card, and I'm getting frustrated that I can't seem to figure out the problem. If there is anything else I need to make clear, please ask. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
