Hello! My mom had a friend that asked me to take a look at her computer as it would not connect to the internet. After hooking everything up I could not seem to get a connection to my network.

Now, this computer runs vista which I am not used to in the slightest. But when I made my computer a little over a year ago and put windows 7 on it, I never recalled having to input any information (Username & Password) to set up an Ethernet connection. So with that, I am unsure if the information I dug up is incorrect or if it is just the computer's issue. How can I tell what information to put? As I said, my computer connected automatically when I plugged in the Ethernet as I recall.

Edit: I tried all the Username and password combinations on my computer and got Error 651 back with all my attempts.
