This is kind of hard to explain but, a couple of months ago my monitor started to act up a bit. White distortions on the screen started showing up, mostly while I was browsing youtube/reddit. I didn't think much of it, but yesterday the monitor seemed to have died. When I plug in the power cable it blinks white, while rebooting itself in an endless loop, as my previous post was about (video). I was told that there might be a few conductors that have gotten damaged, and it would be nigh impossible to repair with no proper knowledge or equipment. Seeing as I don't really have a means to take it to a repair shop who works with this sort of stuff, I had the fortune of being able to borrow a monitor with similar specs from the people I live with for the time being.
The monitor works great so far, but I am starting to feel nervous because I have noticed some very minor distortions while I'm browsing. Haven't seen any white ones though, they have all been black, but they have showed up in a very similar way they did on my monitor. So my question is that, is it possible for a bad cable to permanently damage a monitor in any way? I used the same cables for this monitor that I borrowed, as I thought it wouldn't be worth the hassle to also borrow cables, since I already had the cables I needed (power cable and dp).
Also, the monitor has barely been used. They bought it during the pandemic to be able to work from home but apparently it wasn't used much at all. Model for the monitor is MSI MAG272QP.
Posted this on r/computers first but thought I might post it here as well as it is somewhat urgent.
