So I have several laptops lying around – a few years old, but otherwise in usable condition.
I was looking into Smart Displays, such as the Echo Show 15, but I don’t feel the price is worth what you’re getting. It’s too small, and I feel that a lot of the functions are limited when it comes to what I’m looking for in a Smart Display.
I have an extra iPad that I thought of using, but apparently while you are able to cast an iPad to a larger touchscreen monitor, you won’t be able to interact with the iPad through said touch screen. I could mount my iPad on the wall, and that would legit be PERFECT, except for the fact that a 10” screen is far too small for what I would need.
I’m fairly sure that you can do this when casting a laptop or computer to an external touch monitor though, right?
So hypothetically, if I were to cast (or connect via HDMI?) a laptop to an external, touch screen monitor that I’ve mounted on my wall, I SHOULD then be able to, using just touch, essentially have a computer on my wall… right?
If this IS possible, then the only thing I’d really want to change is how the computer looks and functions — if I could, I’d like it to work more like a phone or a tablet.
I’ve heard that you can (I can’t recall exactly how, but I’m sure it’s nothing I couldn’t figure out if need be) install a Mac OS overtop of a Windows OS, yeah? My partner had to do this in grad school (along with the other 90% of their class that didn’t have Macbooks). Supposedly switching back and forth was annoying, but everything went smoothly after you had it set to one or the other.
So I think what I might be looking for is something like that — but instead of putting a Mac OS over my Windows OS, I’d instead like to add Android or iOS overtop of my Windows system to mimic the look and feel of a phone/tablet.
Is there a way that I can do something like this? Tips, advice, and/or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!
