So, hereās the story.
I had this Seagate external hard drive I thought was bulletproof when I was still learning about these things when I was young. Unfortunately, I think it was like 10 or 12 years ago when this thing crapped out. It just stopped being detected by my pc. It has an enormous amount of family memories on it, pictures of vacations, friends, pictures of precious moments that I will never have access to again or be able to remember if I donāt fix this thing.
I have held out and hoped that somebody or some business could help discover the data on it, but I also have to protect my spouse because thereās some obvious āfunā pictures on there. That makes it hard to just mail off.
I learned how to load Ubuntu onto a flash drive and a while back. I actually got the drive to boot up and it was detected and I was using a software recovery tool to pull some stuff off of the hard drive, and it looked like it had finally detected it and was working only to have my nephew walk into the room and push the power button on the computer, turning it off. That was painful for me because it took me like 24 hours of working on this thing and learning how use recovery software to figure it out. Since then I have not had the same luck and I cannot get the computer to detect this dang hard drive.
Itās pretty eye-opening how important having back ups are and just what powerful tools these are to have. Some of these memories are so important to family, friendships and life events.
I would pay good money to have somebody successfully pull whatever we have on this hard drive off successfully. Do you all know anybody that specializes in this area? And How can I make sure my spouse is protected? Wish there was a lab I could take it to in my city of Vegas and just be present for the work. Ty.
