Alrighty, excuse my ignorance in things tech.....I consider myself smart and savvy enough to be able to hook things up but not enough to understand why they're not working if they decide not to. So here's my scenario:
2 days ago our old DSL modem we had gotten from Verizon/Frontier when we first got our service died of old age (tech guy on the phone said they typically last 6-8 years and we've had it for about that long). It was a Westell 6100.
This supplied a direct ethernet connection to our Belkin N300 wireless router as well as our Roku XD. Opting out of renting a new modem from Frontier, I bought a Netgear DM111PSP and hooked it up myself, folowwing the installation guide & wizard it came with. Our wireless network is back up and running and I spent last night streaming Hulu through the Roku on our tv.
When I went to Netflix something today, it kept "trying" to load the program, but then the lights on the modem would stop flashing & it seemed to "give up" and sent me back to the Roku main menu. Thinking this might be a Netflix issue, I tried on my laptop and was able to load and watch just fine. I then went through our apps on the Roku and discovered that neither Netflix nor Pandora work, yet everything else including internet Radio, Hulu and Epix work just fine, so I can stream movies & music, just not from the two apps I use most often.....
My question: is this because of my choice of modem? I figured if an 8 year old modem could handle it, a brand new one should be able to as well......do I have to change a setting somewhere? Help!?
