My brother and I have been trying to restore Windows on his laptop after a failed update. I mounted a Dell OS Recovery boot drive into a USB, and have only gotten as far as the loading screen before the BSOD. BSOD details are as follows; - stop code: SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION - what failed: dxgkrl.sys
I tried tweaking the boot options to allow for Legacy Mode (turned off PTT, turned off Safe Boot, Allowed Legacy ROMs), then tried booting OS Recovery again, which led to the same BSOD. On the next reboot, I tried switching back to UEFI, then the monitor would not show anything at all. Multiple tries to turn it on and off have showed the same result afterward. Does anyone know a way we can get back to the loading screen at least so I can reset the BIOS back to its original state? Or what exactly caused the problem for the PC not to start at all?
Any help is appreciated!
