Windows 10 Hotspot not allowing devices to connect to it

As stated, when I run my hotspot on my laptop, I need to connect other devices to it to share my internet connection as the other devices are not capable of using vpns and I would be sharing my laptops vpn connection to the other devices, but anything I try and connect to it fails to connect almost immediately, I have already gone through the netsh commands to set up the hosted network settings and it still won’t work, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
