Can't set refresh rate higher than 60Hz

So I connected a second display (benq xl2411z) to my laptop via HDMI 2.0, which is capable of transmitting 144Hz, but in the windows settings I cannot set the refresh rate for the display higher than 60Hz. I have a GeForce GTX 1650ti built in. Any ideas on how to fix? The display is constantly flickering because it is set to 144Hz but only receives 60Hz from the laptop, anyone know how I can atleast get rid of the flickering if I cant fix the first problem?
