just my 2-cents worth of thoughts.. Silicon Valley pioneered the Y2K mantra that got everyone in the DP/IT sectors worldwide scrambling to get prepared for a possible snafu of proportion. But alas... Those hectic days came to naught! This latest magic number points to the Valley's propensity for humongous subject. The cuts i should say... could be wide ranging. But probably the dept., that's going to be hit deeply will be marketing/sales. Cuz the ongoing business climates has turned grey. :-(

Such investors are never passive & usually backup by major funding sources.. just-in-case targeted core management are bull-headed, resisting constructive reforms!
i.e. Since Y2k and the following decades, IMHO, mr W Buffet of the fame BH company is considered an activist investor ..but in a very low-keyed manners. But when it came to corporate numbers/performance of his prospective investment targets, he & his partners were deemed as "hawks* !
