I love this response so much because it demonstrates the lack of imagination that will fuck us all.

You’re smart enough to know I’m using figures of speech. You’re also smart enough to know I’m making a general comment about our species. Why are you going out of your way to be pedantic?

We’ve crawled out of the mud, and have touched the stars.

We are engaged in the project of ending suffering and death, and making progress.

We, most of us, value love, justice, and freedom.

I know of only one species in the cosmos capable of the above.

We’re not perfect. It’s slow going. There are setbacks. Yes greedy, compassionless humans abound. Tribalism and self-serving power structures threaten to destroy it all. Still, any good that has ever been consciously done has been done by humans.

We have just as much reason to believe we will make it as a species than not. I think humanity is a horse worth betting on.
