Black Screen on Laptop

For about 3 days my laptop screen hasn't been working. I've restarted my hp laptop about 5 times and nothing has happenee. I've tried the battery and charger trick , where I take out the battery and whole the power button for 60 seconds. When I plug it into my TV monitor, I can see what's going on there, but nothing appears on the laptop screen. Please help, I don't want my family to pay a ridiculous price for a repair at best buy or whatever. Any other things I can try to do?
