I teach middle school emotional support. Today was bad. I got called first thing this morning to help the principal with a new student who refused to come into the building and was kicking and hitting his mother. We got him to my room and it took me an hour to deescalated him. My student teacher and I had some paperwork to do so we did that after he went to class. Then we taught 3 social skills classes and prepped my aide to teach the other 2. We had a meeting with admin because they don’t understand that behavior plans overrule school wide discipline policies. That was fun... Then I had an IEP meeting and the parent didn’t show. While having the meeting by phone, I got a text that two of my students got in a physical fight in music, so I had to go deal with that. Got back to boss’s office to talk about the insanity of the IEP meeting. Got a call saying one of my student was sent home with multiple Covid symptoms. UGH. On top of all that, internet kept disconnecting all day and we lost water for about an hour.
