Hi I’m going to Japan (Kyoto, Takayama, Tokyo) with my 15yo son in April. He is next level obsessed with tea (eg chats via Discord with Chinese tea growers about soil composition etc) and so I’d love any recommendations on specific places to visit — eg yes we’ll definitely go to Uji, but great tea houses or how to visit tea growers etc rather than just walking around cluelessly. :)
I’d also love any recommendations for good tea ceremony experiences in Kyoto. I used to visit a woman who ran amazing 6 hour ceremonies from her private tea garden, but she married and retired. All the places I can find via google are of the ‘experience authentic Japanese tea ceremony in 45mins’ type.
Many thanks!
