So, I wanna make sure that I'm not crazy basically. This is my first year delivering for DoorDash and I've used Everlance to track my mileage and expenses. I've driven 3,380 miles and paid $100 in repair expenses for my car. Everlance says I have a $2,100 mileage deduction because of this. I've made about $5,500 this year with DD. When using a 1099 calculator (I'll say New England for security purposes, Single, and so far $5,500 for total income), my due taxes are about $150 for state and $850 for federal, so let's say I owe $1,000 in taxes in total. But with the $2,100 mileage deduction, will this mean that I instead get a tax refund of about $1,100? It just seems odd that I instead get a refund when I'm a contractor, and I wanted to double-check with you guys in case this has happened to anyone else. If you guys think I should bring this to a tax Reddit, I will too. Thank you!
