So I'm in a bit of a bind, and could use some input here. I have not been able to file my taxes for the last 2 years due to situations beyond my control (do please spare the personal responsibility lecture. I'm well aware). Good news is that I definitely do not owe money to the govt, but bad news is I really need to catch up and get my taxes filed to get my refund so I can pay off some debt that has had me crippled financially.
My bind is that I do not have copies of my W2 for the 2 years in question. I requested copies of them before I was laid off from my previous job, but they never gave them to me before I was laid off. I called them back to ask them to forward them to me, but they claimed they could not because my personal file was locked.
Is there any way I can get my W2s from my former employer and get the thousands of dollars back I need from the Gov't? Is there another way I can file my taxes in order to get the refund I'm owed?
