tax questions for self employed dependent
Post Body

hi! I am a 21 year old college student. I am a new creator on an adult site. My parents do not know this and would probably kill me if they find out (don’t focus on that, please). I know if I make over $400 I need to file taxes on my income. I’m close to that threshold so now im getting worried. Normally, my mother files my taxes for me. A couple questions. 1) Can I still file my taxes by myself? From what I read I just have to mark somewhere that I can be claimed as a dependent. 2) If I file my taxes on my own, will she see my income and information? I’m basically trying to figure out if I’m getting in over my head. Thanks for any and all advice. I’m not sure what other info I will need. I will have two other jobs to file taxes for this next filing period.
