Post Body

Hi all,

So i know of an US individual who got a gift of around 30k. The giver is a US citizen living overseas and therefore hasnt been compliant with US taxes for some time and therefore probably wont file the 709. Should the receiver file anything somehow & is there any risk as the receiver?

this person also receives gifts from a non-us national but i understand the threshold here seems to be 100k and therefore nothing has to be filed if it is under that figure yearly..am i wrong?

thanks in advance if i dont get to your individual comments!
