So hubby and I need to file for a tax extension, but we are expecting a return. I'm a little confused on how to file for an extension when expecting a return because the form asks for how much we owe... And I have no idea how much we will get as a return, just that we will get something.

For those wondering why we need to file for an extension if we are expecting a return it's because we are waiting on receiving a SSN for our son who's adoption we finalized in September. Filed for the number in November but...... SSA takes decades LOL

TDLR: What do you put in sections 4-7 on the tax extension form if you don't owe but need to extend your taxes.
