would a machine or stick and poke be easier

I'm not even a novice. I've literally never done this before and I want to tattoo myself for my 30th birthday. I can't be convinced out of it. I'm so excited for this. I don't have any expectation of it turning out very good, so that's a bonus. Nothing to be disappointed over.

I've done an the necessary research into proper cleaning and things of that nature, I wanna keep the leg, you know? I would just like a tip or two of you have any to spare.

I want to go around my knee with lettering.

Would it be easier to tattoo myself with a stick and poke kit, or a machine?
