Question on post-tattoo exercise.

So, I'm going back to my home state for a couple months and I'm wanting to get a small tattoo. While I'm there I'm going to be doing a lot of hiking/camping/boating/similar stuff outdoors where sometimes I might not have access to running water for a few days at a time.
My question is how active can you be after getting one? I know in the first few days you should be giving it lots of care and attention, first week would probably good to somewhat baby it, but what about the following weeks?
