Tattoos and acne/acne scars

I am covered and I mean covered with scars due to teen acne which is still ongoing at 28 but mainly only my face will break out now, just wondering if anyone's had experience with tats and these scars? I really want a sleeve bur my shoulders are the most scarred part of my body A. Is it possible? B. If so how would it effect the tattoo?
