So back in December I got reconnected with a tattoo artist I found on tiktok months prior. He had his snapchat in his bio for contact and things went from there, as in I went to his house a time or two (NOT FOR TATTOOS, GOING TO HIS HOUSE WAS FOR OTHER ADULT ACTIVITIES). He did 2 pieces on me and with the second one he decided to gift me with a a custom full color piece. This was Jan 12th. We decided on a scheduled day Feb 11th to get the first part of the piece done.
I decided to get up at 7am cause his shop is 2 hrs away and I still needed to get my stuff ready before leaving. (No extra stuff was going on at this point anymore cause he started dating someone). The 11th comes around and I get a message from him telling me his car took a dump and he couldn't get to the shop so we have to reschedule and he was sorry. I of course know things like that happen so I didn't think much of it and told him I understand, life happens it's ok, but when I messaged him yesterday asking him what is the next day he had avaliable, he opened it and never messaged back.
I had plans to get one tat a month this year to reach my goal but now with him being so stand offish towards me and not willing to reply to reschedule I may have to find a new artists who may not be able to accommodate my 2023 goal. Plus I will have to get to know a whole new person which is nerve racking for me as I have bad social skills due to my autism so meeting new people is super scary for me even at 22.
I want to hold out and give him a till the end of the week to reschedule but I also don't want to hold out and miss the month if he doesnt reply, ruining my goal and me regret not just getting an appointment with a new artist. The tricky part is the piece he drew up for me is one I want so bad but if I go to someone new I won't be able to use that piece because it's someone else's art and I have too much of a moral compass to lie and say it was something I found online. I know this post is a lot to take in but I had no clue where else to turn to. What do I do?
Trust me if that was the case I'd own it. I'm not ashamed of what I do for personal fun at all.
I didn't trade anything on my body for tattoos.
Yea I let stupidly let my attraction to him make the relationship between a client and artist more than what it should be.
Also to your ending comment funny enough my body heals super fast from tattoos mine are healed in about a week or week and a half after getting it done the two he did were only a few weeks apart maybe 3
I paid the same day he came up with the price cause I had the funds there to do so and the new years gift was the free tattoo
Yea i have a new artist in mind that's actually local not 2 hrs away
Yea I'm in Southern Illinois and I've been eye balling this shop on fb in mt carmel illinois called inspiration tattoo and Matt Merrill is the artist. I'm highly considering his shop
No I'm not mad that he has a gf now. I don't mind paying either I paid for my last 2 tats he did for me and tipped him 30% each time as well.
No no it was a shop I was going to for the tats going to his home was for other adult things
I'm not sure where I got the impression it was rude or disrespectful to go to another artist when you had one
Yea I fully admit I am naive sometimes and don't realize it until it's too late. I definitely learned from this one.
That makes sense. And yea I honesty seen it as hey maybe this will go somewhere eventually cause he let me stay the night and stuff to and cuddles and kisses the whole 9 yards
He does his work out of a shop his house was for other things
I have the local artist on fb so maybe reaching out through a message would work. For some reason I can communicate better over message then in person I'm not sure why my brain sees a difference lol
That 4th piece was my fault I moved alot more than I normally do and he wasn't happy about it but yea I love the way the 4th one turned out. Also yea my ex told me the same thing cause he's so big on keeping sex and business separate.
No I pay for all my tattoos this one was only free because I paid for my last one the same day he decided on price and it helped him out financially so it was a new years gift
I was trying to get the main stuff in the post as quick as I could while I also babysit that's my bad
I forgot to add he does have a proper shop I went to. His house is where um let's put it cleanly adult things would happen
Yea but I wanted to give a bit of context to him being stand offish. If I didn't add it, it might sound confusing as to why
The term sounded like a real thing I have no idea 🤣🤣
Excuse you to say what I did and didn't do. One of the rules in this sub is to not be mean or disrespectful. I didn't trade pussy for tattoos and I have proof of that so you really want to get technical my first tat was 200 and second one was 120. The reason for the free tat is I got the 120 to him the day he told me the price because it helped him out a lot. I'm not saying he owes me shit cause he don't but when he went from holding conversation pretty much everyday to not at all. If you seen him live on tiktok you would understand exactly where I am coming from being upset and frustrated about being ignored.
I'm not even sure if that's a real term
Yea I have an artist that's local that's work is incredible but I'm so worried about being seen as a shop hopper cause it will be my 4th artist I've gotten tattooed by.
It was something we both talked about lol my ex was definitely smart when he told me to keep fun and business separate haha
Gifting but I do plan to tip him a large amount cause it's a big piece
It's not jealousy it's the fact he's putting that before his business and people who are wanting artwork done.
Yea it's just frustrating cause the reason he isn't replying is because he is going live on tiktok all day multiple times a day just to talk with this girl across the country in California when he's in Indiana.

Could I show an artist the picture and ask them to change it up a bit so that it's not a copy but still the style I want?
