New here. How do you break in waxy cards?

I just got a new tarot card deck. I’ve gotten a few over the years and they all seem to have a sort of waxy feel to them. I’m sure cards come in a variety of qualities, but how might I go about making mine “looser” and less sticky? Do you just shuffle and handle them a lot? I’d prefer not to go out of my way damaging them because the art is lovely, I just want to get them to be a bit smoother to handle.
