Glad you like the idea. It's a partly done deck. I think I've got 1/3 of the cards done. It's going to be a full 78 card deck. The numbered minor cards are going to all be represented by animals/plants. I hope this will be a thing that I can print/sell, but I'm not at that stage quite yet. I'll DM you a link to the instagram account I set up for it though, if you want, or I'm taking names/emails for an eventual newsletter.

My version of The Hermit was created digitally using GIMP. It uses the traditional lantern symbolism to represent seeking wisdom. In addition, to the arch is a doorway to a higher dimension or spiritual world. The arch and the sunset represent a liminal space/time. The moon represents unconsciousness, mysteries, etc. And finally, the lone figure represents solitude, withdrawal, and silence. Each of the "face" cards (majors and court cards) are based on a specific historical person and specific public land. This card is based on Edward Abbey, who was a park ranger in Arches when it was still a National Monument. One of his most popular books was Desert Solitaire, written about his time there so he seemed like the perfect representation of The Hermit.

Never too late to this party! It's https://www.instagram.com/wardenofthewildtarot/. I am also taking requests for the next cards to reveal (majors or minors) if you have one you'd like to suggest.

Just DM me your email and I'll add you to my little list for email. I haven't set up anything yet, but I've had people who wanted to be notified about progress that prefer email so I started a list.

So glad you like it!

Yes! There is not only going to be one from every state, but also every territory and Washington D.C. I have a Google Maps doc with every park mapped out on it to make sure they're spread out throughout the country. Some states will be repeated. For example, I had to cap New York and California at 5 parks each. There's also a lot of different types of public lands. I love the National Parks, but there's also state parks, city parks, tribal parks, etc.
