Post Body

Hello all! This is a two-part post I just purchased my first Tarantula. She(advertised as female, hoping to confirm with molt) seems to be settling in well. I'd say she has about a 4 inch legspan. Store said she'd probably be hungry so I offered two crickets which she enthusiastically took, and then added two smaller ones which she also ate. I took that as a pretty good sign. Besides that she definitely has been roaming quite a bit and I wanted to post my setup since I'm beginning to worry that the driftwood I placed in there could be a hazard and also am wondering if there is too much clearance from the substrate to ceiling. It also has a mesh top which i heard can be dangerous but with her size I think she doesnt have a chance of getting stuck? Will post pic of both the final tank setup and also one with her on it for comparison purposes. Also one where she's attempting to climb the glass and you can't see the top well but still can get an idea of her size compared to the height. The second part of my post is that I already jumped and ordered an Avicularia juruensis (Peru Purple) sling from fearnottarantulas. It will be arriving next week and I'm well researched and prepared for it's arrival and transfer but would just appreciate any tips I may overlook etc. I plan on doing the transfer in my bathtub with the drain covered securely. It will be staying for a while in the little 2" by 4" vials they sell on the site so it's a very small target for the baby to decide to land in. Already have everything ready for its juvenile home but I have seen many say that the slings (site said it would be 3/4 to 1 inch) do very well in a very small enclosure. Thank you all so much for any advice/etc. Don't worry I'm not gonna make the mistake of buying dozens so soon I'm gonna stick with these two for a while. Also I hear some people can identify sex from an underbelly pic. Though I'm terrified to find out if the store mislabeled as female, I would be happy to know either way.
