Do kink and tantra go together? I see them as rather opposite, however, I now see “tantra” added to all kinds of kinky workshop titles - “Tantric BDSM” and “Tantric Shibari.”
Kink and BDSM is ego based sensory gratification (and often aggressive), where tantra is loving union and dissolution of ego. I see a strong case against BDSM and kink, and how, even though it is consensual, it lacks morality and perpetuates harm - which is very not tantric. It seems that standard “normal” sex these days includes hair pulling, spanking and sometimes choking - normalized through porn and pop culture as “good hot spicy sex” - and anything other than sex with whips and chains involved is thought of as “vanilla.” People seem to have gone from having “normal” sex straight into kink without ever really having mastered and enjoyed what “normal” sex could be - which makes me think people are confusing kink for passion, and trying to “spice up” something that was never understood in the first place.
