Do tanning shots work?

I got a free tanning shot (the drink not injection!) in the salon today and I’m wondering if anyone uses these and knows if they actually do anything or if it’s just a glorified vitamin drink? I was told to take it half a hour before tanning so I planned to take it tomorrow. It is alled tan shot xtra and it just looks like orange juice, the girl in the shop said it just taste like juice too.
