Okay I’ve made taller friends since then.
But many of my child hood friends are Mexican, and most Mexicans tend to be on the shorter side.
This caused lots of animosity and jealousy for me early on.
Everytime I’d talk about my problems they would say “ stop being a bitch” and always try to test my masculinity with excessive taunting.
I’m 26 and whenever we get together my short Hispanic friends love to gang up on me and roast me mercilessly.
I’ve learned to find it so funny, I don’t take it personal, I’m Japanese American, so culturally I was taught to never make fun or criticize others (being reserved is a desirable quality in men in many Asian cultures) I used to get so upset when my short Latino homies would make fun of me mercilessly… then I learned it’s part of Hispanic especially Mexican culture to tease and make fun of people (that’s how they show love)
I’m thankful for my Hispanic homies 🇲🇽.
They gave me thicker skin, and in hindsight I think I take things much less personally than other people my age.
Sorry for the awk post just wanted to share to see if anyone else has had similar experiences?
Don’t sound like friends really…and I’m Hispanic.
