As a short male (I'm 5'4") I never really took my height into consideration until recently. Throughout school I've never had difficultly making friends, finding decent jobs, or befriending women. Recently, however, I've begun to wonder just how life would be different if I was a few inches taller.
In particular, watching people interact with my younger/taller brother (he's 6'1") made me realize that people approach him very differently. At the beach, girls approach him without him having to do anything. His facebook has begun to get littered with pictures of girls and him. Guys are always clamoring to hang out with him as well in a way that they did not when I was in HS. Overall, he seems to be very popular despite (by his own admission) not being very interesting or smart.
Anyway, I landed my first six figure job but still am thinking that it will be hard to achieve overall life success. In college, girls would not talk very openly with me until it was clear I wasn't going to pursue them romantically. At work, I still hear people say things like "when naive_guy24 grows up" and make little jabs here and there about height. My skin has always been pretty thick towards these things but when it seems like a constant attack, it does wear me down.
So what is life like when you're upwards of 5'11"? What did it take for you to start going out with a girl? What does it take for you to make new friends? Overall, how much do you attribute height to success in life?
