Demo Script:

IMPORTANT NOTE - PLEASE READ: While this subreddit is finding its legs, marking content as OC will not be required, as all work is considered original content on this subreddit unless otherwise specified with tags like [Fanfiction] or [Rewrite].

Step 1: The Context or What is happening / What led up to the events of the script.

Context: It’s your anniversary tonight and all you wanted was for your husband to show up. A brilliant but forgetful scientist, you’re prepared for another lonely night but… it seems he’s prepared a surprise.

Step 2: Setting or A general idea of where this is taking place

Setting: Home

[Scene opens at home]

[SFX: Pots and pans banging out]

[You sit at the dining room table while your husband scurries about, absolutely out of his mind]

“Do not fret, my beauty! I did not forget! I simply got caught up on my asteroid observations and lost track of time!”

[Pause…]

[He laughs from the kitchen]

“You thought I wasn’t going to show up? For our fifth anniversary?? Darling! I’m offended that you think I’d be so careless and uncar-!”

[SFX: A very, very small explosion]

[You jump up from the table and hurry into the kitchen, frantic. Your husband sits on the ground, examining his arm which… is missing a lot of skin…]

[Pause!!!]

“I’m fine! I’m fine, love! Just a bit of a mishap with the oven!”

[. . .]

[SFX: Some minor sparks flying]

“My arm…? Oh…”

[He looks down at his now skinless arm as sparks fly from it, completely unimpacted]

“Oh, the dermal covering got torn off… Whoops, sorry about that. Here, let me fix it real fast-”.

[...Pause…?]

[He pauses, looking at you with innocent eyes]

“Am I an android? Yes… Dr. Anderson could not make this appointment, so he sent a replica of himself in his place. I’m the exact same, really, I just don’t have biological functions and he seems to have set my ‘affection meter’ a bit high… But, otherwise, I am your husband, still.”

[He says it sweetly. Matter-of-factly, even, but his smile immediately vanishes as you put your face in your hands and break down sobbing]

[. . .]

“...I don’t understand… Why are you crying? Your distress is… making me distressed…”

[Pause…]

“... It hurts you that he’d rather send down an android than spend time with you himself… But he is! We’re similarly linked, and I can report data to him!”

[SFX: The Listener standing]

“W-Wait, where are you going??”

[Pause…]

“A hotel…? That… indicates you wish to leave him. Me. Us.”

[...Pause…]

“I’m listening! I’m always listening, I promise!”

[. . .]

[This android of your husband reminds you of a younger version of him. Forgetful, manic, but always skidding to a halt when he saw you, always looking at you with respect and admiration… That man is hiding in his lab, at present, best you can tell]

[Pause…]

“...But I’m not another man… So you wouldn’t be cheating…? You could make love to ten of me at once if you wanted!”

[P-Pause]

[He remains innocent, very matter-of-fact]

“No, I don’t know what one would do with that much male genitalia simultaneously either, but I’m sure we could figure it out… I know you’ve been starved for touch and… you believed in my touch until I short-circuited…”

[...]

“You know, without a doubt, that I, as an individual, love you. You’ve seen that tonight… so, perhaps, even if Dr. Anderson himself is a bad husband… You’ll let me be a good one to you?”

[. . .]

[Since when was he a good negotiator…?]

“I have literally all the time in the world for you! I can take you anywhere, buy you anything, all you have to do is ask! But there’s this sensation of pressure in my chest telling me the world will end if I lose you, and I don’t know if it’s programming or just because I love you that much. You can be mad at the human version of me while being spoiled by one of my variants!” ‘

[...Pause?]

“What am I doing? Groveling…”

[Godamn him for being so cute]

[Pause?]

“Because I know you like it… And you need to see that I want you badly enough to fight for us, even if I’m not the creator…”

[He looks conflicted for a moment before forcing out:]

“I’m… Model 14. I am always to call myself Soren, but… if you say ‘fourteen’, I will respond, no matter what lockdowns he has on me.”

[...Pause]

[You greet him properly, as his own entity at least, and shake his hand. He reciprocates it, stands, and kisses you hard enough that your leg nearly pops on its own]

“It is nice to meet you, too… and passionately kiss you…”

[SFX: A heart pounding]

“...We can go out on the town, right now. You can wear whatever you want, even if you want to make other men jealous. I am secure in our relationship.”

[Pause? <3]

[He laughs. Or, tries to. It comes out as more of a hum than a normal laugh]

“In our relationship that just started tonight? That’s not very fair… We’ve been married for some time now, my devious darling. I just, you know… skip around different bodies, at times. Some of them just happen to have very interesting perks…”

[. . . ?]

“The light show…?”

[He pauses for a moment then smiles]

“If you let me fly you there, we can make the City of Lights tour. I can have a hotel booked with five-star food, a private hot tub, and everything.”

[Pause???]

[He laughs]

“Yes, I can go in water… It’d be super inconvenient if it rained, you know?”

[Pause…]

“...I know you’re mad at him… but will you give me a chance to make it up to you, at least? It doesn’t have to be on his behalf… I’m just sad you’re having such a lonely anniversary… You do so much for us…”

[. . .]

[Why not? You may as well]

[He hops up with an excited smile]

“I am delighted to accompany you! And to be your very, very small plane for the evening. Please note that I do not come with seatbelts as I am not cleared to fly in air space for more than a few minutes. Fortunately for us both, I am VERY fast!”

[Pause?]

[He scoops you up into his arms. It’s… odd feeling your husband have defined muscles]

“Erm… No, I do not believe we have received a citation. Y-Yet. BUT we are being very respectful of the law to minimize any second-hand embarrassment for you. It is in the wife patch notes from May.”

[Pause <3]

[He’s a doofus… Very in character]

“Let us away, fair lady! To a show of lights, a nice dinner, and then an evening of shopping for the most beautiful woman in the world!”

[SFX: Fade out on them taking off into the night]
