Another tale from a wine club call center.
Me: Thank you for calling, this is Me, how can I help you?
Crazy lady: Hi, yeah, I have a problem with my order. This is so embarrassing but my 10 year old grandson was home yesterday when my wine got delivered, and opened all the bottles and drank them. I found all the empty bottle stashed in the bathroom”
Me: What?? Omg is he okay? Is he in the hospital?
Crazy Lady: he’s okay, although his parents are pissed and say he can’t come over anymore. Anyway, my point in calling is that the delivery company gave the wine to a 10 year old and it’s all gone so I need a new case, for free, since they should have asked for an ID and my grandson is clearly not 21.
Me: Ooookay, let me talk to my supervisor about how to handle this...
I escalated the call to my supervisor, and they ended up sending her a new case just to not deal with it. Which, whatever, it was clearly a scam but sometimes it’s easier to just get them out of your hair.
The kicker? This lady called AGAIN a week later saying her wine never got delivered this time and she needed another replacement...
