Bit of context, I work for a very large online entity in numerous departments, handling emails, chats, and phone calls.
At the time of this customer contacting, we provided the service through a different courier and therefore had very limited resources/solutions.
M = me/myself C = customer
C: chats in My order was set for a delivery between 4pm-6pm and it’s now 5:45pm, I need to know where the driver is or you need to call them because if they arrive late like they always do then they won’t be able to get in because our parking lot will close.
M: looking at C’s account and seeing this is a routine pattern and wondering why they set the delivery for that time if this is a problem????? I’m very sorry about this, C, however I’m unable to call the driver directly and let them know. If you don’t receive your order we can certainly refund you.
C: You’re absolutely f***ing useless! What do I even pay for?! You need to call them NOW!
M: Again, I’m very sorry for the inconvenience but we’re unable to call them directly.
C: You’re useless, bye! disconnects chat
A few minutes go by, and it’s a fairly slow night... so a call comes in. I look at the name that auto-populates and it’s my previous chat customer. It’s taking everything in me to not burst out laughing already (I knew they’d call in expecting a different answer). So I answer the call, “Hello this is M with X, may I have your name, please?”
I hear the customer SLAM the phone down hanging up on me, and she called back a minute later lmfao. I didn’t get her again simply because I had to take a few minutes to laugh my literal arse off (I was in tears from laughing and my stomach hurt) so her call got directed to another coworker, who ultimately also laughed at the situation.
TL;DR - customer chatted in and didn’t like my response so they called in and got me again and immediately hung up because they knew they wouldn’t get a different answer.
