Question about Giant's cross country tour

Post Body

I was thinking about doing the cross country bike tour, and I was wondering if anyone here can give me more detail about how fit you need to be to do this trip. From what I've read, you are riding anywhere between 100-120km a day, and riding at 20-25km/hr for 9 days.

As far as my fitness is concerned, I do 50-70km rides pretty often without any problem. I've done ~100km rides twice, and while it's doable, it's pretty tiring and not something I can do regularly(but then again, I did ride a lot harder on my 2nd try and took a long detour to wash the dirt off my bike). I've started doing interval training to improve my speed, and I can maintain 25-26km for 1-2 hours, and I can reach up to 27.5km if I am really pushing during the interval training.

I'd imagine I would be able to do better on the tour since I am currently riding on a Giant Escape 1 Disc (Hybrid), and I'd be renting a road bike for the tour. I talked a Giant shop owner and he told me that people with much less riding experience than me can finish it just fine, but I figured I should get more feedback from people who have done the tour or have done similar trips.
