I'm the Lead Scientist and Manager for the UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab on Donner Pass: Let's Talk the Potential for Big Snow Next Week
Post Body

Hi everyone!

I've been posting severe weather and snow forecasts to reddit for a long time. I'm /r/Denver's official weather guy after working at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder and used to post storm forecasts there frequently before I moved to Australia a little over four years ago. After getting my PhD in Oz, I took a job on Donner Summit running the Central Sierra Snow Lab and I've been here for about 8 months now.

It's looking like we're getting a major storm on Monday/Tuesday and another later in the week on Thursday. It's too early to make any definite predictions, but all the models are in agreement and most are saying >10 feet for the summit through next Friday. I think that may be a bit of wish-casting and that there's big bust potential there, but it's looking promising for big snow one way or the other next week.

I'll probably start posting forecasts for big storms on a regular basis in here and just wanted to introduce myself. Let's chat weather and AMA!
